How It Works
1. Reserve Your Hatch
Build your hatch experience with our Hatch Builder and submit it to us! It will provide a quote based on your hatch preferences, then ask for your preferred hatch date and contact information.
If you have any questions or run into any issues with the Hatch Builder, feel free to email or call us. We'd be happy to help get your hatch scheduled!
2. We Follow Up to Confirm Your Spot
Once we receive your reservation request, we’ll email you to confirm your requested hatch cycle and provide a link to pay your hatch deposit. This will be followed by a separate email containing an electronic envelope to sign our rental agreement and liability release.
*Your reservation isn’t officially held until the documents are signed.
2. Setup Day
One week before your hatch begins, we'll send you a pickup time window for your scheduled Saturday pickup or coordinate a delivery time if you've selected our delivery option.
3. Your Role
Your part is simple, keep an eye on the temperature and humidity indicators, follow a few short instructions and candle the eggs at the recommended times to see how the embryos are developing. The incubator handles everything else.
4. Lockdown (Day 18)
On Day 18, the eggs enter lockdown.
This means:
• Turning of the eggs and humidity are adjusted to prepare for hatching
• The incubator should not be opened again until all viable chicks have hatched and are fluffy
*Once chicks are fluffy and dry, you’re welcome to hold them for short periods of time.
5. Hatch Day
Most chicks hatch around Day 21.
After hatching:
• Chicks remain in the incubator
• Do not give them food or water until they are moved to the brooder
• They’re sustained for the first 48–72 hours by the yolk they absorb before hatching
*You get to enjoy the excitement and watch them settle in.
6. Move Chicks into Brooder
Woohoo! You have successfully helped bring chicks into the world. After all of the chicks have hatched, you get to move them to your provided brooder that acts as a transitional home for them to acclimate to the world before going to the farm!
In the brooder the chicks will:
Stay warm
Learn to eat & drink
Play and grow stronger
*We will return one week after hatching to retrieve the chicks and supplies.
6. Chick Drop Off Day
One week after Hatch Day, typically on a Saturday, you'll return the chicks and all of the hatch supplies to us. No coop, no long term care, no mess. Say your goodbyes, and we'll take care of the rest!
